How To Pray A Prayer Of Faith

How to pray a prayer of faith

At the end of the year 2021 I was going through my bookshelf and I came across a number of books that I hadn’t read. At that moment I made a promise to myself that in the New Year 2022 I would read these books. Fast forward a few minutes and the New Year was in full swing, so I started to read the books. These books have taught me a lot about prayer and getting the best out of life. I will share with you a little bit of what I have learned about praying a prayer of faith.

How to pray a prayer of faith

I define a prayer of faith as praying for results.

“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them prayer over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven”.

James 5:14-15 (NKJV)

This passage of scripture tells us that the prayer of faith will save the sick. That is to say, that the prayer of faith will provide the result or answer to a problem. To pray a prayer of faith you must first obtain evidence that God will bestow the blessing. This evidence comes from scriptural promises or the prophetic word. The number one rule in praying for results is to base your prayer on the promises from the word of God (The Bible). A practical example of this is to assume that you’re praying for healing. You would first go to the scriptures for evidence that God will provide healing. Let us look at what the word of God says in Isaiah 53: 5 (NKJV):

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”

Isaiah 53: 5 (NKJV)

This is precisely the evidence that you need to anchor your prayer of faith.

God Wants To Give You The Desires of Your Heart

To pray a prayer of faith you must cherish the good desires you have.

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

Psalm 37: 4 (NKJV)

God wants to give you the desires of your heart but you must first delight yourself in the Lord. You delight yourself in the Lord by being obedient to His word.

Consecration

To pray a prayer of faith you must consecrate yourself to God. Entire or total consecration is
indispensable to a prayer of faith. To consecrate means to make sacred. To pray a prayer of faith you
must make yourself sacred to God which means you must be holy.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”

Romans 12: 1 (NKJV)

To emphasize the importance of consecration to the prayer of faith let us look at Joshua 3:5 (NIV). ‘Joshua told the people,

“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the lord will do amazing things among you”’.

Joshua 3:5

We read later in the chapter that God made the waters at the Jordon stand still. If you want God to do wonders in your life you must consecrate yourself to God.

Persevering In Prayer

To pray a prayer of faith you must persevere. James 1:12 (AMP) says

“Blessed [happy, spiritually prosperous, favoured by God] is the man who is steadfast under trail and perseveres when tempted; for when he has passed the test and been approved, he will receive the [victor’s] crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

So we see then, if you remain steadfast you will receive. Galatians 6:9 says if we do not give up we will reap in due season. Hebrews 10:36 says if you persevere you will receive what is promised. There are tons of other scripture that shows the importance of perseverance. Here are a few you can read: 2 Timothy 2:12, Romans 12: 12 and Matthew 24:13.

Start Praying by Faith Today

God’s word is constant; he is the same yesterday, today and forever. The same God that brought the
children of Israel out of Egypt is the same God that’s going to bring you out of your oppression. God has
already given us so much; he has already paid the price for our sins, for our infirmities, our depression
ect. All we need to do is trust Him and come into a deeper relationship with him. All good things that you want are right within your grasp. You have to stand on his promises, cherish the good desires of your hearts, consecrate yourself to God and persevere in prayer.
