Come A Little Deeper

deep waters-come a little deeper

Again he measured a thousand and brought me through the waters, the waters were to my knees. Again he measured a thousand and brought me through, the waters were to my loins. Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over, for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over. And he said unto to me, Son of man has thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river. Ezekiel 47:4-6

KJV

Ezekiel was in vision, surrounded by water. He was taken gradually into deep waters by a man, until he got to the point where it was impossible for him to stand and would have to swim. Now, I don’t know about you but for me, (who absolutely, positively cannot swim) that’s a very disconcerting thought.

What stands out for me, though, is while going through the waters Ezekiel emphasized “he brought me through“. When he got to the point where he was challenged, the man was right there with him. That very same man brought him back out of the water to [what I’ll call] safety (not being able to swim and all).

Friends, that MAN is none other than Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 43:1-2 tells us, “fear not for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee.”
When God calls us into deep waters, He is not calling us to go and fend for ourselves into uncertain circumstances. We must trust that he has already made provisions for us and that no harm will befall us on His watch, and He is always watching!

Step Out in Faith

To avail ourselves of His promise to never leave nor forsake us, we have to take that step in faith. We have to walk to know that is He always walking with us. Faith is the lifeblood of the Christian journey – for without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

Going Through Deep Waters

Peter, when Jesus called him to Him on the water, trusted UNTIL he started focusing on the events happening around him. When going through deep waters, when answering God’s call, don’t worry about the outward circumstances: the waters overflowing you, the bills that you’ll have to pay, the time that you don’t have, the skills you haven’t quite mastered.

Just hold onto the hand He is extending, in faith, believing that He is able to keep you. Don’t worry about the circumstances – God is able to make something out of nothing, oh wait, He already did that when He created the Universe. So why are you doubting Him?

In what area is God asking you to come a little deeper today? Where is He telling you to “step out in faith, I’m here with you, I’ll never leave you”?

Prayerfully ask Him to reveal His will to you today.
