God’s Love For Us

for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away.

Song of Songs 8:6-7

There is nothing more powerful than God’s love for us. It is limitless and unquenchable. God’s love has the power to heal, transform, set us free, move any mountain and part any sea. When I think about the depth of God’s love for us, I’m reminded of the cross, a symbol of His amazing love. His love for us is so great that he sent his Son to die so that we might live. 

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

God’s Sacrificial Love

God loves us so much that he wants to have a relationship with us. This has been made possible through Jesus’ death on the cross which has broken down the barrier that stood between us and a relationship with God. Jesus’s death atoned for our sin so that we could fully experience the depth of God’s love. Through Christ’s atoning sacrifice we have been made new; so we can now enjoy true, unhindered fellowship with a holy and perfect God. 

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:37-39

Unlimited, Unconditional Love

What’s even more amazing about God’s love is that we don’t have to try and earn it. His affection is free and unlimited. It’s like a ‘free premium subscription,’ where you get all the benefits, unlimited and completely free. Isn’t that amazing? It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done, he still loves you. He loves you in every state and in every season of your life. God’s love is powerful and unyielding. It doesn’t run out, it doesn’t give up and it doesn’t leave even when we turn our backs to him. It fights for us even when we fight against it. There is no other love that can compare to His.

It’s incredibly transformative to embrace the truth that God loves me as I am because of who He is. 

Reminders of God’s Love 

Whether you’re fully acquainted with God’s love or are just starting to embrace it, we all need frequent reminders of how much we are loved. There is no better place to turn to for these reminders than scripture, where the depth of God’s love is revealed over and over.

Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.  I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.

John 17:25-26

Personally, I know I’m loved when I observe nature. The creator of the universe thought it important that I be counted among his greatest creations, that’s love. I know I’m loved when I open my eyes to a new day because whatever his plan is, I’m a part of it. I know I’m loved when I pray because he hears me and cares enough to answer when I call, that’s love. I know I’m loved because He supplies all my needs. I know I’m loved because even when I mess up, He gives me grace and shows mercy. I know I’m loved because I’m a part of his family. Most importantly, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I’m loved because He saved my life by giving up His.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

John 15:13

No Other love

There is no possible way that anyone else anywhere could love like this. It would drain them, but God’s love is unquenchable. His love is unfathomable and we get to experience It every day. What an awesome God!

I am loved, you are loved, we are loved and not just by anyone but by the great I AM. May you find comfort and joy in His great love and share it with others today.

Prayer 

Loving God, thank you for your amazing love. Your love reaches far and wide, the depth of which is unfathomable.  It saves, it heals, it transforms and set captives free. It reassures and comforts me in desperate times. Your love is the anchor that keeps me grounded, a miracle that I marvel at each day, a safe refuge when I am afraid. Your love is more precious to me than anything; it is unchanging and it endures forever. Thank you for showering me in your unquenchable love. Amen.
