“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened”. Matthew 7:7-8
One day I was sharing with a friend how rough of a time I was having. The first question she asked me was, “have you fasted and prayed about it?”. As a professed Christian I felt small, ashamed, properly chastened because I had not fasted or prayed about this situation. As I reflected I realized I moped, complained, deflected and did everything except defer to the One who was sure to have the answer to my problem.
A Very Present Help
The Psalmist tells us that God is our very present help in times of trouble; our refuge in whom we should seek solace, salvation, strength for whatever circumstances that may befall us. God promises help, comfort, peace, prosperity to His children but the key is to ASK…SEEK…KNOCK.
When you are going through life’s difficult times, remember God is your help & strength. He will dispatch the army of heaven to help you – you need only ask.
Pray: Almighty God, time and again I’ve been burdened by life’s challenges. The enemy has placed obstacles after obstacles in my way and I’ve sometimes blinded fallen into the traps he’s set. Often I try to go this journey alone, forgetting that you’ve promised me help. Help me to call out to you, to cry out for help in times of trouble. Help me to fight my battles through prayer, to defeat the enemy by trusting in you. Give me faith, help me to resist the attacks that come upon me. Remind me that I am not alone, as you are a very present help. Amen
