The Bible tells us over and over again about God’s love in various forms. The Bible even tells us that God is love! So great is His love for us that he gave his only Son to die on the cross for our sins. The cross stands as a symbol to us of the greatest love of all times. It is a love characterized by grace and forgiveness; it is eternal, unconditional and absolutely free! you don’t have to try and earn it; you don’t have to put on or take off anything to have it. God loves you as you are.
It’s very important to our faith journey to have an understanding of God’s love for us. We also need frequent reminders of the depth of His love for us. There is no better place than scripture when you need to be reminded of how much you are loved by God.
Take a look at a few verses that offer a deeper understanding of God’s love for us:
1. Isaiah 54:10
Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
2. John 17:25-26
Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.
3. 1 John 4:9-10
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
4. Romans 8:37-39
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
5. John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
As you mediate on these verses, receive God’s presence and rest in his love. Renew your mind with thoughts on how deeply he loves you.
