Persevere In Your God-given Assignment

Purpose

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:6

Not everyone will understand your God-given assignment or purpose and that’s ok. Once God commits a purpose to you, you can be sure that He will bring it to fruition. In Acts 10-11, when Peter in vision was told to by God to visit and preach to Cornelius the centurion he was hesitant because the Gentiles were viewed as unclean by the Jewish nation. Being obedient to the will of God, Peter went and ministered and added to the household of faith. Upon his return, his Jewish brethren were displeased with his actions.

“The apostles and the believer throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him.”‭‭ ‭

Acts‬ ‭11:1-2‬

Understand Your Assignment

It wasn’t until Peter expounded on all that transpired that they understood his assignment and recognized that it was divinely led.

“So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?” When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.” ‭‭

Acts‬ ‭11:17-18‬

When others are unable to see your vision and understand or relate to your purpose, you will encounter discouragement and doubts, but press on! What matters is that you understand the assignment. There may be naysayers, but in singleness of purpose focus on God and the goal and make sure that you understand the assignment.
